Appraisal Review Board (ARB)

The ARB is a group of Denton County citizens (just like you) who applied and were chosen by the Denton County Administrative Judge to hear disputes. They have completed the required state training to become a certified Appraisal Review Board member.

The ARB is authorized to resolve disputes between Denton County property owners and the Denton Central Appraisal District.  During ARB hearings, the Appraisal Review Board will listen to both the property owner and the appraisal district, and then make a determination.  The ARB and DCAD are prohibited from speaking value or disputes outside of a properly posted ARB hearing. ARB decisions are binding only for the tax year in question.  ARB hearings begin around May/June.  The ARB should complete the majority of the hearings by July 20th of each year.  In larger counties, like Denton, the hearings will extend into the fall.

The Denton Central Appraisal District is completely separate from the Denton County ARB and is not responsible for the opinions or decisions made by the Appraisal Review Board or its members.
