Hope McClure
Chief Appraiser
RPA, RTA, CTA, CCA

 

Hope McClure has over twenty years of experience within the Appraisal District field.  She holds a Registered Professional Appraiser (RPA) license, a Registered Texas Assessor/Collector (RTA) license, a Certified Tax Administrator (CTA) license, and is a Certified Chief Appraiser (CCA).  Hope has earned a Bachelors in Psychology from University of North Texas and a Masters of Executive Business Administration from Texas Woman’s University.

 

She enjoys being on the lake and soaking up sunshine, being spun around a dance floor and working out by boxing or playing golf.  Her support system is her handsome husband, her two beautiful bonus daughters, and their three adorable dogs.

 

Hope cannot wait to turn the Denton Central Appraisal District into a thriving and servicing entity for Denton County and its citizens. Her focus is on improving customer service and education for property owners.

 

Don Spencer
Deputy Chief Appraiser
RPA, CCA

 

Don Spencer has been in the Texas Property Tax Appraisal Industry for almost 14 years. He identifies as an inspiring and empowering servant leader.  During his tenure in the industry, he has gained experience and education in residential, business personal property, commercial and industrial valuation along with assisting the Chief Appraiser in other administrative duties.  Don has served on several committees for TAAD and TAAO and also sat on the TAAD Executive Board as a trustee.  He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Arts and Sciences, majoring in Organizational Leadership from Texas A&M University in Commerce, Texas.

 

Don is a proud husband, father of four amazing children and a faithful brother in Christ. When he is not working he enjoys playing a round of golf with his son and spending quality time with his family. 

 

Kim Collins
Finance & HR Manager
MPA, CGFO
 

Kim Collins joined the Denton Central Appraisal District in April 2020.  She comes to the District with many years of experience in local government finance.  Kim is committed to continuing the District’s tradition of excellence in financial stewardship and providing transparency for our taxpayers, entities and stakeholders.  All inquiries are managed in a professional, timely manner and are ensured responsive solutions. 

 

Kim enjoys spending her free time with family and friends, cooking, working on various crafts and volunteering.  She feels very fortunate to have been able to raise her family in such a supportive community.

 

Rebecca Townsend
Customer Service Manager

 

Rebecca Townsend is an US Navy veteran, who has completed two tours of duty as a shipboard firefighter during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. After her honorable discharge in 2012, she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and started her career in customer service. She is well versed in the Texas Property Tax Code and is passionate about maintaining data integrity. Rebecca joined Denton CAD in 2020 as our Customer Service Manager.

 

Away from the office, Rebecca enjoys coffee, exploring nature, reading, listening to music and podcasts, puppies, and true crime documentaries.

 

David Steele
IT Manager
 

David Steele has a background in British financial services, before he found his passion in IT in 2010. Since then, he has worked at one of the largest British cell telecom carriers, a hospital pharmacy, and the appraisal industry.  David moved to the Dallas area from the UK in 2017 and joined Denton CAD in 2020. 

 

Away from the office, David enjoys writing, spending time with family (usually troubleshooting their IT problems), and realizing... how big Texas really is!

 

Jonathan Martin
Mapping Manager
RPA
 

Jon Martin has been an employee of Denton CAD since 2000.  He graduated from UNT with a Bachelor of Science and became a full time GIS Tech for the District in 2003. As the District's GIS /Mapping needs evolved over the years, Jon evolved with them until he became Mapping Manager. Through the years, he has had the pleasure of working in a field he enjoys and has met some lifelong friends along the way. He feels blessed to be a leader over a department that is filled with hard-working people who take great pride in helping the residents of Denton County and it is his goal to always meet the demands of the ever-growing Denton County community.

 

Outside of the office, him and his wife keep busy with their two children’s sporting activities. Their son plays high school baseball and their daughter is obsessed with gymnastics. With what time is left, Jon enjoys playing golf and thanks his dad for teaching him the game at such a young age. It has taught Jon many lessons and how to handle life situations away from the course. Many of those lessons he uses everyday as a Manager of the District.

 

Jenna Simek
Residential Manager
RPA
 

 

Jenna Simek moved to Denton in 2008 and joined the District in 2009. While working at the District as a residential appraiser, Jenna has worked hard to obtain her Registered Professional Appraisal (RPA) license, a Bachelor's degree in science with a major in Criminal Justice from TWU, and is currently working to obtain the IAAO Certified Assessment Evaluator (CAE).  Jenna became Residential Manager for the District in 2020.

 

Jenna enjoys teaching others and helping customers become more knowledgeable with the Texas Property Tax System. In her free time, she loves spending time with her family during hunting trips and trips to the lake. 

 

Dustin Vernor
Business Personal Property Manager
RPA

 

Dustin Vernor began his appraisal career in 1999. He is well versed and has worked in every aspect of property tax appraisal throughout his career. Dustin has an extensive background in economics, engineering, commercial, residential, industrial and business personal property appraisal. Dustin’s department is responsible for the majority of property tax exemptions and abatements concerning commercial and business personal property in Denton County. Dustin specializes in applying his expertise and market knowledge to consistently exceed his departmental goals.

 

Dustin holds two degrees, one in Economics from Texas A&M University and the other in Nursing from Southwest Texas. Dustin, his wife and two children all live in Denton.

 

Chuck Saling
Commercial Manager
RPA, CCA
 

Chuck Saling grew up around commercial real estate in Denton and he obtained his BBA in Real Estate from the University of North Texas. Shortly after, Chuck joined the District in 2008 and obtained his Registered Professional Appraiser (RPA) license in 2011. He earned his CCA certificate in 2019 and  is currently working to obtain the IAAO Certified Assessment Evaluator (CAE). 

 

Chuck enjoys passing on his knowledge to others by sharing his real estate experience with his appraisal district team and coaching youth soccer.

 

George Clerihew
Appeals Manager
RPA, CCA
 

George Clerihew graduated from Grapevine High School in 1980, then attended the University of North Texas where he achieved a BBA degree in Real Estate in 1984. He started his appraisal career working at Wise County Appraisal District and after two years with Wise CAD, he came to work  at Denton CAD in January 1987.  He has worked in the residential, land, commercial and Sales & Research departments over the years.  George is currently the manager of the Appeals Department and handles litigation matters filed against the District.  

 

George's favorite part of the job is the many relationships he has developed over the years with property owners and people in the industry.  He has lived in Denton since 1980, been married for almost 37 years to a wonderful wife and has two sons.
